Damn Fine Charity Goal

2012 January 18

NEW SONG NEWS: David Mosher and I are going to be recording an acoustic version of “Damn Fine Day” at the end of the month. From February 1 to March 31st, we will be donating all of the song’s sales to a Michigan charity, which will be announced on the release date, February 1st. My goal is to give a damn fine donation on April 1st. No fooling. More to come.

The title of "Damn Fine Day" was inspired by Michigan artist Alisa Bobzien's screen print!

New Song: Damn Fine Day

A few people have requested the lyrics to the new song that was in the free download of the January newsletter. Here’s a video from the Trinity House too.

Damn Fine Day  (the Meantime)

I can read your eyes, I can see you’re sad
I can feel your heart beat away the bad
Bad times we’ve fallen on…
It’s like we found our lives stuck on pause
Feel an endless strain but never find the cause
Well the world can’t keep us down

Today will be a damn fine day
Today, we’ll pretend that it’s a holiday
Get dressed in your best
And dress me up in mine
We’ll make the most of the meantime

I will take you back to that summer’s day
Where we promised to never betray
Each other or those dreams we had
Let’s go out, paint the town red
Dance to your favorite songs until we crash in bed
Well the world can’t keep us down

Today will be a damn fine day
Today, we’ll pretend that it’s a holiday
Get dressed in your best
And dress me up in mine
We’ll make the most of the meantime

Even I’ll admit
There are days where I feel my spirit
Fade into the night that was once starlit
Stars arrayed  when you smiled

I don’t know how I got this far
Behind the chase of a lucky star
When it’s only you I need
And the world can’t keep us down

Today will be a damn fine day
Today, we’ll pretend that it’s a holiday
Get dressed in your best
And dress me up in mine
We’ll make the most of the meantime

Setlist – Raven Cafe 1/15/2012

Comments Off on Setlist – Raven Cafe 1/15/2012

We had a fun time in Port Huron last night playing at the historic Raven Cafe.

Raven Cafe has an odd, quirky crowfoot stage. Loading in was a little bit of work, but it’s cool to take in the atmosphere of the pre-Civil War building and woodwork.

Stu and Kevin got their work out for the day with the load-in exchange.

Sadaat Hossain, a Port Huron musician who also handles booking for the cafe and runs an open mic in town, joined us on piano for our last set! I captured a recording with my iPhone of him joining us on “Made a Mess.”
