Data mining on Facebook gone too far

My neighbors lost their dog Rookie on New Years Eve. He was 17 years old, a loved member of our Dixboro neighborhood. Lois is going to miss barking at Rookie from our little hill in our backyard.

Obviously, my friend’s Facebook feed was full of regrets after she posted the news.

On New Years Day, she saw this ad on her Facebook feed:

This is not OK. This is advertising and data mining, gone too far. And isn’t all data mining of our personal information, too far? This is a year for us to take a stand. Set up ad blockers. Write to your congressional representative. Etc.

Remember, permission marketing is the only marketing that works. If your business’s strategy is to survive abusing technology because you can, you deserve to fail.
